Union Minister Dr Chaw Chaw Sein Holds Meeting on Organizing Science Fair and Arts and Science Research Conference

A meeting to discuss the organization of the University of Yangon Science Fair was held this afternoon at the Arts Hall of the University of Yangon. Present on the occasion were Deputy Minister U Nay Myo Hlaing, Director Generals, and Deputy Director Generals. The Rector of the University of Yangon, Pro-Rectors, Professors (Heads of Departments), and other officials concerned also attended the meeting.

 

First, the Union Minister stated that the Science Fair held at the University of Yangon has not been organized after 2020. She emphasized the importance of reviving the event and organizing it in full swing. She added that the Myanmar Academy of Arts and Science Research Conference would be conducted in combination with the Science Fair to ensure its success. She also urged relevant departments to make advance preparations and to ensure the best presentation of exhibition booths.

 

The International Relations (IR) Department was further urged to coordinate with international embassies to be involved in cultural exchange activities of the Science Fair. The need to establish an Area Studies Research Center was also highlighted, noting that the establishment of the centre would enable the nurturing of researchers in the sciences as well as those capable of conducting area studies in the social sciences. The relevant departments were also called for making advance preparations, in accordance with their respective disciplines, to run job-ready skills training programmes. Finally, it was stressed that collective efforts be made to ensure the successful holding of the Science Fair and the Myanmar Academy of Arts and Science Research Conference.

 

Afterwards, the Deputy Minister and Professors (Heads of Departments) presented proposals and discussed measures to organize the Science Fair and run training programmes. The Union Minister provided additional guidance and recommendations to address the necessary requirements.

 

The Union Minister also met with the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, and members of the Myanmar Academy of Arts and Sciences to discuss arrangements for the Research Conference. It was stated that the conference would be jointly organized with the Science Fair at the University of Yangon. Heads of Departments were urged to ensure that research papers are submitted on time, and arrangements were made to include students’ performances in the opening and closing ceremonies. The Union Minister also called for collective discussion and experience-sharing to address any additional requirements.

 

Subsequently, the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, and members of the Myanmar Academy of Arts and Sciences presented proposals and held discussions on organizing the Arts and Science Research Conference. The Union Minister provided guidance and coordinated efforts to address the necessary requirements.
