A coordination meeting was held for designing the vocational level-based foundational chart aligned with the educational system to develop human resources, create employment opportunities, produce the skilled professionals in various sectors, and for compiling and maintaining record books at the Ministry of Education Conference Hall in Nay Pyi Taw this afternoon.
The Union Minister for Education, Dr Chaw Chaw Sein; the Deputy Ministers- Dr Zaw Myint and U Nay Myo Hlaing; Permanent Secretaries and officials from education and related ministries, Rector of Naypyitaw State Academy, Professors from Subject Wise Committee (SWC), and invited guests, including the Secretary General of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) attended the meeting.
Firstly, the Union Minister stated that a committee will be formed to design a vocational level-based foundational chart aligned with the education system and to compile and write a record book on education reforms. In order to do so, the meeting is being held so that the Permanent Secretaries, Directors General from the respective ministries, and responsible officials from Ministry of Education can work together to carry out the next steps. Regarding the educational pathways for students who did not pass Grade- 12 and the opportunities for those who completed Grade- 9 but did not proceed to higher education, the Ministry of Education has been developing opportunities for continual learning in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, and the Ministry of Science and Technology. Moving forward, various levels of educational pathways must be designed to ensure access to learning opportunities.
Moreover, regarding the ongoing education reforms such as Job Ready Skills, and the reforms starting from Grade-10 subjects related to industry, agriculture, and livestock breeding, it is stated that relevant ministries are required to compile a written report on the education reforms they have undertaken over the past five years. For the preparation of the foundational chart and report by each ministry, a record book is to be compiled to document the government’s education reforms and to provide employment opportunities in accordance with educational standards. It is also said that the compilation must include records of notable reforms in the education sector and records of successfully creating employment opportunities.
Then, the Deputy Minister Dr Zaw Myint clarified and discussed the formation of the committee for designing the vocational level-based foundational chart aligned with the education system and for compiling and maintaining the record book, as well as the committee’s duties and responsibilities. Subsequently, the Permanent Secretary and responsible officials of each ministry discussed and presented the ongoing implementation, the facts to be considered when designing the vocational level-based foundational chart aligned with the education system, and the facts for compiling the record book. Then the Union Minister coordinated and delivered the closing remark.
Similarly, it is reported that, the Union Minister met with the Deputy Ministers- Dr Zaw Myint and U Nay Myo Hlaing, Directors-General, members of the National Curriculum Committee, members of Subject Curriculum Committees, and members of Curriculum Development Committee from the Ministry of Education and related ministries to hold a coordination meeting on designing and implementing the curricula for industrial, agricultural, and livestock subjects at the lower-secondary school and upper-secondary school levels this morning.
